CLANS

Groups of similarly goaled people often find strength and security within the fabric of "formal" organizations. Clans can represent a common religious, professional, geographic, racial or other aspect of people who seek other similar people. A clan may be widely know, such as the Conclave of Wizards or the Knights of Solamnia, or obscure, like the Knights of the Hoopak. They may have concrete goals, such as the advancement of the Magic Arts, or they may simply be for companionship and story telling. Clans may be able to establish clan houses, bank accounts, and other membership based benefits.

Conclave of Wizards
The Conclave of Wizards is a certain magic guild on Krynn. They are composed of the most powerful wizards in the known world, and have a rich history of accomplishments and disasters. The Conclave of Wizards was created in the Time of Light in order to control and prohibit the devastating and chaotic effects of wild and renegade magic. They have built many monuments and magical strongholds, some of which were destroyed before or during the Cataclysm for various reasons. The Conclave of Wizards is split up into three orders. The Order of White Robes represent Solinari and good magic. The Order of Red Robes represents Lunitari and neutral magic. The Order of Black Robes represents Nuitari and evil magic. All three of these Orders work together to promote the acceptance, use and balance of magic in Krynn.

The Conclave of Wizards states that all apprentices who reach a certain mark of skill must take "the test" before continuing their studies. This test is never the same for any two people, and often is not even a physical quest. Quite often the entire test occurs in the dreams or mind of a mage. The failure of such a test is death.

Those who pass are granted entrance into the Conclave and assume an apprenticeship under a mage of the order they choose. Any who choose to continue their studies of magic without taking the test are labeled renegades and hunted by the Conclave, the result varying depending on which order a mage belongs to who comes across a renegade.

Knights of Solamnia
The Knights of Solamnia are a group bound together in both brotherhood and common beliefs of Honor and goodness. They have lived by ethics that many on Krynn have never understood, but have respected.

The Oath and Measure have been the foundation of the Knighthood since its beginning. However, as the Measure became more complicated and resulted in a multi-volume set of ideals no Knight could live up to, the Knights have begun to understand that obedience to the spirit of the Measure is the chief goal of the Knighthood. The heart and honor of each individual Knight is where this true spirit lies, not in a set of dusty books. The Knights still live vigorously by their Oath "Est Sularus Oth Mithas" which when translated means "My Honor is My Life."

Throughout its history, the Knighthood has been respected by all of Krynn's people. However, that has not lately been the case as the mighty Cataclysm was blamed on the Knights and most of them must work in secret, to their dislike. Currently, they are beginning to once again gain that respect as they are the only defense against the advancing armies of Takhisis. The Knighthood is divided into three Orders of the Crown, Sword and Rose. The qualities that each order exemplifies is listed as follows, along with a listing of each Order's High Knight. The Knights of Solamnia are ruled by a High Council and a Grand Master, usually chosen from the High Knights.

Dragonarmies of Takhisis
With the rumors of dragons and strange dragon men come those of a large and powerful army known only as the Dragonarmies of Takhisis. There has been no official word or factual information but many assumptions have been made.

First of all, the validity of these rumors. While those of the dragons and dragonmen seem quite outlandish, the ones concerning the Dragonarmies seem to be an unfortunate truth. There has been no word or trade with the roguish city of Sanction in quite some time and suspicion is that these armies have captured it. In fact, most of the eastern realms have been very quiet of news lately, and so fears have been heightened.

Many mercenaries and travelers have come to Solamnia with tales of these Dragonarmies. Many seem to be extremely far fetched, but the information that has been pieced together is as follows:

*There are 5 different wings of the Dragonarmies. The red, blue, green, black and white. It is assumed these bear symbolic representation of the respective chromatic dragons of legend.

*Each Dragonarmy is led by a Highlord, essentially a master general, who leads their entire wing. It is said that these highlords are not limited by race or gender.

*The Dragonarmies are rumored to have entire flights of dragons, of the appropriate color, as well as the dragon men which have been referred to as Draconians. Although these are seen only as campfire stories, it is important to make note of nonetheless.

Let us pray that this information is indeed simply a rumor, for if it is the truth, Ansalon may find itself in dire times indeed. May Paladine guide our hearts and swords.

The Holy Order of Stars
The Holy Order of the Stars are the organized religions of the true gods of Krynn. Formed with the purpose of unifying the tenets of each faith, the orders are composed by clerics of each of the eighteen gods who granted divine magic to their worshippers. The eighteen gods do not include the three gods of magic, who created the Orders of High Sorcery to rule over the practice of arcane magic.
